Welcome back everyone! Today is the fourth Monday I have been back to work. The first week was new teacher work week. I was in the building every day that week except Friday. Then teachers came back on the 11th. Another busy week for me as many of our computers had been replaced over the summer and nothing seemed to work right. Fortunately, the LMS from Madison Heights Elementary showed me some tricks to help things get up and running. Thank you, Kennon!
Last week was the first week with kids. My load seemed to slow down greatly! I guess that is because everyone was protective of their beginning times with children. I can't say as I blame them. I was hoping to actually work with some students last Wednesday at Amherst Elementary but the school did not start PLCs until this week so last Friday was my first day with students when I was in Central's lab all day. OH BOY! I only have the students for 30 minutes and we had not correlated our resource travel time very well so my day was completely discombobulated. I am hoping that this week goes much more smoothly. I have been thinking a great deal about this 30 minute computer lab time slot and am planning to make some adjustments. I forget that these kids had a canned program they had to use for a couple of years and do not yet know how to take instructions on a project. I will need to slow myself down and give them time to learn. This week will be much better I am sure! I love my job as an ITRT and I am looking forward to a wonderful year of teaching and learning.

Melanie LewisHi, my name is Melanie Lewis. I am an Instructional Technology Resource Teacher for Amherst County Public Schools, located in the beautiful state of Virginia. I LOVE my job! I get to work on my hobby, anything that has to do with computers. I get to work with teachers and students, and I am definitely a people person. Plus, I DO NOT have to give grades. Wonderful, huh? Let me know how I can help you better integrate technology into your classroom. Archives
