Fourth and fifth graders at AES are using GIMP to create some masterpieces. Check out the spring pictures our fifth graders did today. Please remember that these are first attempts and that all of this was done in a mere 45 minutes (of the week before spring break). First we located a spring background on the internet, saved it and opened it with our software. Then we did the same thing with a bunny clip art image. The bunny had be be resized and made transparent. We finished up with taking our pictures and cutting out just our head. Our head was layered so that it replaced the bunny's head. We completed our work by exporting it to a jpg image. Could you do all this in one class period? Kids are amazing!

Melanie LewisHi, my name is Melanie Lewis. I am an Instructional Technology Resource Teacher for Amherst County Public Schools, located in the beautiful state of Virginia. I LOVE my job! I get to work on my hobby, anything that has to do with computers. I get to work with teachers and students, and I am definitely a people person. Plus, I DO NOT have to give grades. Wonderful, huh? Let me know how I can help you better integrate technology into your classroom. Archives
